Your Safety Is Our Standard of Care
Every patient deserves exceptional care in a clean, safe environment.
At The Smile Collective, patient safety isn’t something we think about only during times of public health concern—it’s built into everything we do, every day.
We follow rigorous Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) standards established by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) and Public Health Ontario. Our protocols are reviewed regularly and updated whenever new recommendations or best practices become available.
Safety begins before your appointment
Health screening when appropriate
If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness, we kindly ask that you contact our office before your appointment. We will help determine the safest time for your visit.
Medical history updates
Your health changes over time. We review and update your medical history regularly so we can provide treatment that is both safe and personalized to your individual needs.
Appointment planning
Our scheduling allows adequate time for treatment, thorough operatory preparation, and complete sterilization between every patient.
Your safety during your visit
Clean and disinfected treatment rooms
Every treatment room is cleaned and disinfected between patients using healthcare-grade disinfectants following provincial IPAC standards.
Personal protective equipment
Our clinicians wear appropriate personal protective equipment based on the procedure being performed, including gloves, masks, protective eyewear and face shields whenever indicated.
Comfortable and welcoming environment
Our reception and clinical areas are cleaned throughout the day to provide a welcoming environment for every patient.
Hand hygiene
Safe treatment for every patient
Whether you are here for a routine cleaning or a complex surgical procedure, we apply the same high standard of infection prevention and patient safety.
Behind the scenes: How we protect you
Hospital-grade sterilization
All reusable instruments are thoroughly cleaned, packaged, sterilized, and monitored through a validated sterilization process before every use.
Single-use items whenever appropriate
Whenever possible, we utilize disposable, single-use products to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination.
Sterilization monitoring
Our sterilizers undergo routine biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring to verify that every sterilization cycle meets established standards.
Annual IPAC training
Every member of our clinical team completes regular Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) education and annual protocol reviews to ensure we remain current with provincial standards and best practices.
Continuous quality improvement
Patient safety is part of our culture. We regularly review our clinical systems, equipment, and protocols to ensure we continue providing care that meets today’s highest standards.
Our Commitment
We are committed to providing dentistry that is safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered.
Thank you for trusting us with your oral health. If you ever have questions about our infection prevention protocols or sterilization procedures, we are always happy to discuss them with you.
Your health. Your safety. Your smile.
Every patient. Every visit.
